A Replit or Heroku alternative for Discord bots

If you built your Discord bot in Replit or deployed it on Heroku, you can move its source into a bot hosting container. The migration is mainly about reproducing the runtime, dependencies, environment variables, and startup command. Keep your existing project available until the new deployment has logged in and answered a test command.

What a bot needs instead

A bot needs a process that keeps running with no traffic at all. On this host, each bot gets its own container, and a quiet bot is not put to sleep. It runs until you stop it, it crashes, or the plan ends. There is no web server to add and no ping service to set up.

Bring the application

Export your source or take a fresh copy from your repository. Include package.json and the lockfile for Node, requirements.txt for Python, or the built jar and required resources for Java. Check for paths or startup commands that only work inside your old development environment. Remove credentials from committed files before uploading anything.

Choose the matching discord.js, discord.py, or JDA template. Start the included hello-world once to verify the token and runtime, then upload your own files through the file manager or SFTP. Use the console to check dependency installation and the ready message. Fix the first startup error before trying another restart.

Move secrets and data separately

Copy the names of your environment variables and set their values privately in the panel. Do not paste tokens into chat or a public repository. Reset a token if it has been exposed. If your bot saves state in local files, stop writes while taking the final copy so the new deployment begins with consistent data. For an external database, check connectivity and credentials before switching over.

Switch over carefully

Stop the old bot before running the new one against real events. Test commands, permissions, privileged intents, and any scheduled tasks. Watch memory and CPU after a typical workload. Keep a recovery copy of the data and know how to restart the previous deployment if the migration fails. Moving hosts does not change Discord's API rules or cure application errors.

This is a container for running your bot, with a panel and file tools. Plan to edit code locally or in your chosen editor. You do not need an HTTP ping service to keep the bot process running here. The free tier does require account renewal every 7 days. Paid plans use subscriptions instead of weekly renewal.

Sign in with Discord, Google, GitHub, or email and password. Free hosting works with any sign-in method and requires a verified email address.

See pricing for current limits and prices, or claim a free bot to test a small project. Read the 24/7 guide for ongoing operations and the FAQ for pre-sales questions. Check your previous provider's current terms before canceling anything or deleting its copy of your data.

Questions

Can I move a bot from Heroku too?

Yes, if it fits a supported runtime and the plan limits. Bring the source, dependencies, environment variables, startup command, and persistent data.

Do I need an uptime ping service?

No HTTP ping service is needed to keep the bot process running here. Free servers still require account renewal every 7 days.
